Tuesday 3/05/16-Wednesday 4/05/16

This week we started our work experience unit. For this we had to work in a group and a choose one charity from the our that we were given. The four charities were stonewall, frank, walk-tall and porch light. As a group we decided to go with walk-tall because it helps young people to build their confidence and self-esteem through performing arts. This week we created our ideas and put the ideas into a mind map for the trailer and poster. Also we decided to split into two smaller groups so we can have a group working on the trailer and a group working on the posters for our chosen charity. But before we did the posters, we decided to gather some research to help us with the task that we were given to complete as a group.  Also we started to come up with some of the ideas we can do for a poster for the charity before we came up with the final idea. Also we started to plan out our pitch before putting all the work together. The next thing that we need to do is prepare our pitch and put it into a powerpoint.The people that were doing the work was me and josh. also we decide to spilt the group into two smaller groups of three to work on the project instead of doing it in one big group.

 

Research that we found about walk-talk

It has been a charity for 11 years. it uses different ways of performing arts for young people and adults to build their confidence and self esteem. They offer extensive counselling for adults, vulnerable and young children who have experience challenging life situations. They also do music and visual arts. They provide professional theatre. music and arts services. Also they have meeting rooms and a recording studio for people to record themselves singing. Also the charity offers young peoples arts classes during the day and it helps people to gain a qualification in performing arts. They do a wide range of events for people to go to and take part in.

week one-12/04/16

Today we started working on a project for trimester 3. This includes looking at our strengths and weakness for the past two trimester to see how we have developed our skills and ideas. Also we were looking at social issues as a group and then we had to decide on ten issues that affects us then we have to narrowed it down to five ideas and expand the ideas into a mind map then we had to pick one that drawn to us the most and find a question within that the topic and how to answer it.

Strengths and weakness

: 3 skills you have gathered from the last two trimester

  1. Editing a video because when I first started the course, I didn’t how to use Adobe premier to merge the video together to make it a final product without any mistakes in it. I am more confident using the editing program because I can add music and still photos to the video to make it more realistic and for this trimester I will add different music to the video.
  2. Writing a story because we had different steps to plan out the story and add more detail using storyboards.

  • Equality links to the college because we accept people from different cultures and adapt to their needs to help them with their work. The college can raise awareness of equality by putting posters around the college to make sure students know what equality is and how to use it in the right manner. Also on the posters we can put where the students can get help from and who to speak to in the college.
  • I choose benefits because most people are entitled to benefits if they are employed and looking for job, if they have children and not working or if you are in supported lodgings. But some people can get turn down for benefits because they are working or not in full time education.
  • I think that terrorist attack effects most people because if they are in the country where the attack is taking place they might be family members out there you might not survive and it will make the rest of the family upset and they don’t have the right to get killed if they haven’t done anything wrong and they should be able to carry on following their dreams
  • I think no one should be judgmental because it will hurt other peoples feelings. Also people have the right to express themselves without being judge by other people in the world. but on the other hand we can be judgmental ourselves and we don’t realize we are doing it and hurting people’s feelings.   Also i think stereotype is wrong because not all teenagers are naughty but newspapers also express how teenagers are getting into trouble with the police but not all teenagers are like that because certain teenagers have rules and boundaries from their parents and know their limits.
  • Lots of people suffer from mental health problems because some people find it hard to talk to other people about how they are feeling  and they leave it bottled up inside of them and they feel down for more than a month. this mental health issues is called depression but they are loads of different mental health issues. this affects me because i know how it feels to feel down and when you don’t talk to people about what is bothering.
  • Poverty is a continue issue within society because everyday there are people in Africa who are starving and dying of thirst everyday because young kids have to go to the river  to collect water which is dirty and makes them ill and they can die from drinking this water . This makes me feel sorry and sad for the families that are living in these poor countries because that don’t have enough money to get clean water and also I hate seeing children die at such a young age.
  • NHS is a problem in society because not everybody gets the Nhs treatment for free because in america they have to pay for their treatments but in england we get the NHS treatment free but I think everyone should not pay for the treatment they need

week 11-Progression week 21/03/16-23/03/16

interactive product- videoI completed doing my evaluation for my stop motion video.

Evaluation 

To make the stop motion, I use a cardboard box to create the set. I created the set by using pictures of the internet and sticking them to the cardboard box. The pictures that I used Was a town and a forest I used Photoshop to make them my own. I also use the spare parts of the cardboard to make the characters and the houses to make it look like a city. Once I have created the set . i borrowed a camera and tripod off college to take 180 photos. When i had to do the forest scene, i paperclip the forest background over the original background. When i was finished taking all the photos, i uploaded all my photos onto the computer and input them into Adobe premier programmed on the computer to put the animation together . once the animation was put together with the music. i save it in my documents than i insert the link into the video. The music that i used in my video was the classic relax walking music so people can think about the story first before going into the slideshow to read the rest of the animation. The things that worked well with the animation was the music because it is relaxing at the beginning of the story and then when the boys have died in the middle of the story, the audio is were you can hear the girls crying because there brother had died. The hardest thing about stop motion was trying to get the sounds to work with the photos and the scenery behind it. Also it was hard to make the stop motion thirty seconds. I did 180 photos for my stop motion but i only  used 27 of the photos because my animation went over 30 seconds and the animation ended begin 1 minute long. the most enjoyable bit of this unit was doing the story and making a animation out of it. i also enjoy doing my own sounds using the Foley technique. In my power point i used different transitions to make it look scary.

 

How to do stop motion

  1. Plan out what story, you want to do with your stop motion
  2. Collect all your objects and props
  3. Take 180 photos to put the animation together
  4. Upload your photos to the computer
  5. Then use Adobe premier to edit and make the animation
  6. Then save and upload the video to YouTube.

Foley is relating to or concerned with the recorded sound effects after the shooting of a film. They use different props to create all the sound effects. The props they used are from plates to chairs and anything they can find. The artists watch the film and creates the sounds in real life then adds them to each of the scenes in the movie. The most common sounds that Foley recreates are doors opening or closing, people walking up and down the stairs, pets starching and making the weather noises. Most Foley artists have their own props. Most successful Foley artists can look at an object and imagine what the sound of that object will be. The Foley crew will include the artist or the walker. Foley artists are named after Jack Foley.

 

Week four-wednesday 27/01/16

Today I broke down my synopsis into different parts by highlighting the parts and I am going to expand on them to help me set the layout for my story. the next thing that I need to do is expand on my story. In alma’s session we carried on doing our storyboard by using the templates we were given and building up our story ready for it to be filmed later on in the term. when I was doing my layout for my story I use different techniques to make some of the story look spooky.

A damp wooden house with an eerie ghost sound echoing through the dark gloomy house… But where is the eerie ghost sound coming from? There is the sound of breaking glass. They hear a sound that triggers a past that is running through their minds. But who is it? Ever since their mum died. They go back on that day. Should they carry on going through the house and seeing more shadows?   The door slammed opened, but the shadow was gone when they turned their backs. But was it someone they knew? Who are the shadows? They have managed to escape into the forest. The light is fading; there is no way to escape out of the forest.

They are walking through the cold dark scary forest when they see bright flashing lights. But what are the bright lights shining at? Is the shadow animal or a person? They won’t find this out until they get closer to the flashing lights and see the shadow more clearly. But when they reach the end of the flashing light. The shadow has disappeared. But where has it gone?   Was it someone from their past talking to them through the rustling trees?   Something is coming and there is no escape. What are they going to do next? Will they live or not? Do they have any help or not? What happens if they get separated? Will they find each other in the forest?

Week three- Monday 180116

Today I look at my research plan and started to answer some of the questions to help me with my story and to see how to make a haunted house and what materials and props I can use and I also finish the interactive worksheet and answer the questions to what is an interactive product.  The next thing that I need to do is plan my interactive product. also to choose what part or my story to be a stop monition.

Week one- Tuesday 050116

What did you do

Today I did my five story ideas and then I choose one to do a final synopsis of the story. I did this my picking out my best story idea and using that story for my project

I learned that when you have different ideas that if you first one doesn’t work. But you can change you story if your first one doesn’t work out

1: A girl is sitting in the dark with a lamp in her hand that is showing different shadows on the wall.   The shadows are trying to grab the keys out of her hands, while they are the tie to the chair. I am going to use a scary theme tune when the monsters are going to attack the person.  Then I am going to use a door that’s is creeping open and doing it slowly so the person feels scared.

2:  A scary night- This is when a person walks through the woods and sees a shadow shining on the tree in front of him and he doesn’t know what to do. Does he carry on walking towards the tree or walk out of the woods?

3: A war story- I can use war soldiers to describe what happen in the war and how the war ended after 1945 and what the place looked like after the war. Also, I am going to include how people felt during the war.

4: A girl slowly walks into a house and she opens the creaking door and hears different noises in the house which is making her feel scared and she doesn’t know what to do next? Does she carry on walking into the house or walk out of the house?

5: A girl walks into the dark forest with her brother. But when they enter the gate they see flashing lights. What are the lights? Is there a shadow to follow? Then her brother goes missing in the forest. But where is her brother? What has hhappenedto him?
